Read About Me!

Hi there. I am the author of this blog. While I enjoy sharing my knowledge with everyone on this blog, this little corner page is more about me, and the parts of my life that aren't Computer Science related.

My Family
Me as a little girl, my father on the far right, my mother, and my cousin.
On the left my aunt and uncle.

I grew up with conservative and protective Chinese parents, so it wasn't easy for me to go out and hang out much with my classmates. Most of the time I spend in my house imagining up stories, drawing artwork, and mixing up glue with color and creating something odd. Barbies weren't the interest of mine, neither were they something my parents bought. I played with legos, since they can be shared with my younger brother, and built things I make up. That's where I believe my love for creation and invention grew.

First Sight of Passion
I'm not sure if it's called passion, but it is when I realize what I liked doing. One day, I found that somehow my room's doorknob had broken and that I was locked inside. As a silly 6th grader, I was scared that I'd be locked inside my room forever or it's going to be one of those crazy news of some poor girl being stuck. Something like that. Anyways, what happened was that I found that if I had something to use to pry the lock latch open and I'd be free again. I found a pair of scissors and used it to my advantage. Although this seems like a small matter, it was something sentimentally important to me. I found games and problems like these that are very intriguing and interesting. More specifically, solving them was like winning the lottery. I found the creation of computers and it's problems really similar to the process of puzzles. And that was the first time I discovered online my first programming language. C++.

*Tip for others: perhaps you don't want to start with C++, like I did.

What else do you like to do, besides lifelessly spamming your keyboards?
I realize that I didn't have much that I do(Netflix is awesome). I do enjoy playing video games, but I get nauseous when I play 3d games too much. Cooking has always been a relaxing chore for me, after a long day it's nice to feel busy reading recipes and munching yummy food. I've also recently set up a small goal to read more, so I can expand my knowledge in other interesting topics

Currently, learning to be conscious about everyday stress factors and environment is something I want to improve my life. Being conscious about my emotions and reactions would help me to become emotionally stronger. Physically, since I never did much of it, I want to do more to keep myself in a health check.

Mostly, I really enjoy activities that have an intellectually stimulating part to it.

Currently Working on what(hopefully not in standstill)?

  • Adding to my list of practice problems. You can look in "Technical Q&A" to see a few of what I've done. Majority of the questions are still in my Github though, and two of my close friends are working on their own branch :).
  • This is still in the planning stages. I want to try to recreate something like a DIY home monitoring thing, although I still don't know how I am going to go about it, the things I need to acquire to make this happen. But, as soon as I get something started I want to share with everyone!
